About the Role
A federal government agency is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Investigation Assistant (APS4) to support the Fraud Investigations Branch within a high-performing Integrity Transformation and Fraud Fusion Taskforce.
This position plays a key role in supporting fraud investigations by contributing to the detection, assessment, and prevention of fraudulent activity against government programs. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of experienced investigators and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to achieve operational outcomes that protect the integrity of the agency's services.
Key Responsibilities
- Support investigations for potential criminal prosecution, applying knowledge from a Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or equivalent
- Assist senior investigators with technical and administrative tasks
- Review, analyse, and assess documentation, data, and other relevant materials
- Identify and escalate issues, risks or anomalies as appropriate
- Support fraud prevention activities by monitoring and reporting potentially non-compliant behaviours
- Conduct phone-based or face-to-face information-gathering activities
- Maintain accurate case records using a range of analytical tools and internal databases
- Draft or contribute to clear and concise investigation reports
- Provide operational support and contribute to the overall efficiency of the team
Key Skills & Attributes
- Sound understanding of investigation practices and administrative procedures
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify inconsistencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including stakeholder engagement
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently under general supervision
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Competency in Microsoft Office and investigative or records management systems
Desirable Experience
- Experience in a compliance, regulatory or investigation's role within government or similar environments
- Familiarity with fraud control frameworks and case management systems
Mandatory Requirements
- Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or equivalent qualification
- Ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA security clearance at Negative Vetting Level 1
- Ability to pass a Pre-Engagement Check and Working with Children Check
- Willingness to undertake a Worker Screening Check
Eligibility Requirements
- Australian Citizenship is required
